Chinna Babu is touted to be a realistic family drama which also highlights the distress faced by farmers.Tamil dubbed films are finding good patronage from Telugu audience these days. Karthi has a decent following in Telugu and all his movies are awaited. Adequate care has been taken care in dubbing this film into Telugu. Director Pandiraj is succeeded in delivering a decent film, but this caters very strictly for targeted women audience!

The movie begins with an introduction to RudraRaju’s (Satyaraj) humongous family and the relations within. He wants a son but becomes the father of five daughters from his two wives. While looking for a third wife, his first wife becomes pregnant and delivers a boy Krishnamraju (Karthi). Karthi grows up, two nieces want to marry him but he falls in love with an outsider Neerada (Sayesha). Rest of the story is as to how Krishnamraju solves all his family problems and finally marries neerada.

On the whole, the movie is the same old village family drama which belongs to the early 90’s. The makers have tried to revamp the setup by adding some contemporary touch to the script. The movie works well in the first half but gets over dramatic in the second half. Karthi is adorable as Chinna Babu and carries the film on his shoulders. The film boasts of rich visuals as farming and rural setup give a fresh feeling in certain scenes. Watch the movie, if you like loud family dramas.
