Clint Eastwood is great American filmmaker and a great actor too. He was born in San Francisco, California. His first consequential role was in the long running TV show Rawhide and his big-screen breakthrough came with his role as The Man with No Name in Sergio Leone’s trilogy.

In his long career, he has directed and acted in many movies that went on to become blockbuster hits. He even won Academy Awards for the movies Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby. Here are some of the best movies directed by Clint Eastwood.

Unforgiven (1992)

Unforgiven is an American revisionist movie which portrays William Munny (Clint Eastwood) as a retired old west gunslinger who takes one last job. The other actors in the film include Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman and Richard Harris. The movie has received 4 Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor and Best Film Editing.

Million Dollar Baby (2004)

Million Dollar Baby is an American sports drama movie that stars Clint Eastwood, Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman. The movie depicts a determined amateur boxer Maggie Fitzgerald (Hillary Swank) works with an underappreciated boxing trainer, Frankie Dunn (Clint Eastwood) to become a professional boxer. It has won four Academy Awards including Best Picture.

Mystic River (2003)

Mystic River is an American mystery crime drama movie based on the novel of the same name by Dennis Lehane. The movie stars Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, Laurence Fishburne and Kevin bacon. The story is about three childhood friends whose lives are shattered when one of them has a family tragedy. It won two Academy Awards for Best Actor (Sean Penn) and Best Supporting Actor (Tim Robbins).

The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976)

The Outlaw Josey Wales is an American revisionist movie set during and after American Civil War. The movies stars Clint Eastwood, Chief Dan George and Sondra Locke and is an adaption of Forrest Carter’s novel – The Rebel Outlaw: Josey Wales. The film’s plot is, a Missouri farmer, Josey Wales (Clint Eastwood) joins a Confederate guerrilla unit and takes revenge for his murdered family.

Gran Torino (2008)

Gran Torino is an American drama movie in which Clint Eastwood portrays as a disgruntled Korean War veteran, Walt Kowalski. The movie features Hmong Americans. In the movie, Walt’s neighbour, a teenager, Thao Vang Lor tries to steal his prized possession, a 1972 Gran Torino but Walt prevents the theft and slowly develops a relationship with the young boy. It is Clint’s second highest-grossing film to date.
