The God Father

The Godfather is a powerful film released in 1972 and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. It is based on Maria Puzo’s novel which portrays the conflict within the Mafia, one of the leading organizations in the US dealing with crime. Marlon Brando plays the role of the leader of a Mafia Family, and his performance is utterly compelling. Undoubtedly it is one of the greatest crime movies of all time.

The Shawshank Redemption

The Shawshank Redemption, was released in 1994, directed by Frank Darabont and is the story of Andy Dusfresne, played by Rim Robbins. The movie is notable for wonderful acting from Robbins and Morgan Freeman who plays Red, the narrator. It has many memorable scenes that break your heart or lift you up. It is movie that will never get old and its messages will never be outdated.

Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump was released in 1994 and was directed by Robert Zemeckis. It is a movie about an ordinary man, who is a bit slow academically, but is able to run like the wind. Tom Hanks won the Oscar for the best actor category for his extraordinary performance in this movie. The movie became a super-hit because of its message that everyone can be a hero, and realize his or her dreams.

Pulp Fiction

Pulp Fiction was released in 1994 and directed by Quentin Tarantino. One more movie with crime backdrop that stars John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis and Uma Thurman. It is considered as Tarantino’s masterpiece and a cultural watershed and also much praised for its screenwriting. Later, many movies adopted various elements of this movie’s style.

The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight was released in 2008 and is based on the DC books character Batman. The movie directed by Christopher Nolan. The film is about this caped superhero and his sidekick Robin. Christian Bale who acts as Bruce Wayne and Batman has put an excellent performance. Most importantly, Heath Ledger’s portrayal as Joker in the movie was legendary.
